More like a really indulgent, spicy mocha with a grown up twist, this is the perfect drink for those who can't decide whether to have coffee or hot chocolate. So why not have both? After all, it's cold and you deserve it!
Heat the milk in a pan on the stove and add chocolate and coffee. Whisk until the chocolate has melted.
Turn the heat all the way down and whisk in the rum. Once mixture is smooth, add sugar to taste.
Pour into 2 mugs. Top generously with whipped cream and, if you're feeling fancy, grate some chocolate on top!
This variation on a Moscow Mule uses a Nicaraguan coffee to give it a kick- and hey presto, Patada Mula was born! This is the perfect cocktail to keep you going through a long party season- with or without alcohol.
Couple of ice cubes
Slice of lime
La Bastilla coffee, chilled
Shot of rum (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a glass and enjoy!
This is the cocktail James Bond would ask for, if he was a fan of coffee-based drinks (and who knows what he drinks on his downtime?) Coffee and vodka work beautifully together- but you do need to get your hands on a cocktail shaker to make this perfectly.
35ml coffee liqueur
Shot of espresso (we recommend Tugboat 23)
A few coffee beans to garnish
First get your martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes to cool down. Next, take the vodka, coffee liqueur, a single shot of a good espresso and ice cubes and put into your shaker. You'll need to really, really shake to get the ice to crush up and chill everything down quickly- this will help create a good frothy top. Pour into your chilled glass, top with a couple of coffee beans- and bingo! A fancy cocktail with little effort (although your arm muscles might feel it a bit...!)
We all need less nonsense in our life, so why not try this decadent cocktail that does exactly what it says on the tin?
100ml strong brewed coffee- we like Tugboat Java for this recipe
50g icing sugar
20ml hot water (just off the boil)
40ml double cream
Brew the coffee and leave until cool. Add the hot water to the icing sugar and stir to a paste. Next, add the whisky and cold coffee, stirring throughout.
Top up with the double cream, give it a shake or a decent stir and pour into a couple of ice filled glass. Enjoy and forget about all the rest of the nonsense!
